My ggrandmother (Amelia Harriet) was born 9 March 1854 to Harriet (nee Lewis)and John Frewin in St.Pancras, London. John Frewin was a French Polisher. Amelia Harriet married Joseph James William Griffiths on 13 June 1875 in St. Peter's Church, Regent Square, St.Pancras.
I now have a problem. My mother is 90 years old and has a very good memory. She insists her grandmother was Irish and she tells the story of two friends or cousins (she thinks from Killarney) came to England. One of them met and married her grandfather (Joseph Griffiths) and the other married a Henry Banks (who eventually was my mother's father-in-law) so it seems that both the irish girls were my gt.grandmothers. However, when I showed my mother the birth and marriage certs for Amelia Harriet Frewin, she could not believe it and insists her grandmother was Irish as she remembers going to Ireland with her grandmother when she was 5 years old. I am sure I have the correct birth and marriage certificates as the dates and ages tally correctly. I would be grateful if any other Frewin's would contact me if they think they have any connection. Thanks
