It's terrific to meet someone so knowledgable about the
crests of the Frew... family. We will be happy to take the
crest off our web site if it truly doesn't belong there.
About 10 years ago I paid a researcher to find the origin of
our name. He came up with the origins of all the different
spellings and sent me this crest with Frewing on the top.
Now as I do my own research I see that Frewing and Frewen
were used interchangebly in some families. I would dearly
love to know how our line connects to the other spellings
for sure and if you could help us we'd be forever grateful.
The most ancient record we have seen that we know does belong
to us is that of James Frewing who married Elizabeth
Griffiths on Nov. 4, 1807 in Wooburn, Buckingham. In
Berkshire there is a John and Elizabeth Frewing who had 9
children and four of them are listed in the parish records
as being Frewens and the other 5 as Frewings. They had a
James at about the right time to be our James but we have
not seen certain proof on that.
Thank you again for your comments, any more light on this
would be accepted gratefully.
