Only one thing has happened this summer of any real importance - the 1901 census has finally appeared online, so I am in the process of transcribing the entries from that to our database which can be searched here: http://www.the-net.co.uk/cgi/igmsrch.cgi/n=freawine.
Over 1000 new entries have been added since I last announced an update, so if you haven't checked recently, it's worth running a new search. (I know this isn't going to help you but someone else may be reading.. you never know..)
I have transcribed about 80% of every Frewin listed for 1901 so far, or about 500 people.
Why bother? Quite simply, if you search our database first you will find out what is on the census page *before* you pay to look at it (75p a time, minumum charge £5.00).
I have also wrinkled some of the more glaring errors in their transcriptions (my grandfather was listed as Frenin for example).
The plan is to do all Frewin's, Frewens, Fruens and Fruins by Xmas.
I honestly don't know when I will get time to get to the Family Research Centre or Kew, I suspect it may not even be this year as I am trying to renovate the house and sell in Spring.
It's so much easier to sit in front of a PC and work! The sooner they get all of the census's online the better.
