The former Stag and Hounds or Stag's Head Pub, Crays Pond, Oxon

The former Stag and Hounds or Stag's Head Inn at Crays Pond in Oxfordshire.

This house is all that remains of the Stag and Hounds or Stag's Head Inn at Crays Pond, Oxfordshire.

This pub, or beer house, which was once managed by Frewin family, was in use until the 1960's apparently,
but was converted for use as a private residential house thereafter with little remaining to indicate its
former use.

Cray's Pond is a very small village but supported two pubs until the closure of The Stag and Hounds or Stag's
Head. The other remaining pub, The White Lion, is shown below.

The pub is referred to as either the Stag and Hounds or the Stag's Head in various records.

White Lion Pub at Crays Pond, Oxon

The White Lion pub at Crays Pond, Oxfordshire - the other pub.

The more central location of the White Lion pub on the main road in Crays Pond probably meant it was better placed to
survive as a business rather than the Stag and Hounds or Stag's Head which was on a side road.
