The first Frewens to arrive in Australia were brothers Michael and Andrew who claimed to have come from Annamoe in County Wicklow, however research indicates that no Frewens ever lived in County Wicklow. Family oral history suggests that they were from Limerick, and were descendants of Joseph Frewen of Castleconnell. It is believed that a sister Jane followed her brothers to Australia two or three years later but there is no record of what happened to her after her arrival in Australia. Michael Frewen married Mary Anna Amanda Cullen and had two sons John and Andrew. Andrew Frewen married before leaving Ireland and had seven children in Australia none of whom had issue. Andrew Frewen, son of Michael was a champion footrunner who died of pneumonia as a result of a chill caught after a race at age seventeen. John his brother married Annie Rooney and they had eight children, John, Michael, Vincent, Joseph, Kevin, Agnes, Susan and Richard. Joseph had three sons, John, Peter and Brian. John had three sons, John James, Nicholas Joseph and Michael Andrew. Peter has never married and Brian died, aged three years.
